EastEnders will air on BBC Two tonight to make way for coverage of Queen’s death

Following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, EastEnders will continue to air on BBC Two.

After an incredible 70 years in power, Her Majesty passed away peacefully on Thursday at the age of 96 at her Scottish estate, Balmoral.

When it was revealed that there were health concerns regarding her, the BBC halted its regularly scheduled programming starting at noon yesterday.

Before the news of The Queen’s passing broke at 6.30 p.m., BBC One carried coverage that lasted the entire day.

The broadcaster has now released a revised schedule for Friday, announcing that BBC One will carry BBC News specials up until 6.30 p.m. on that day.

While BBC Two has also experienced changes to the schedule, many BBC One The channel now has programming running all day.

After 70 years on the throne, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II passed away. Buckingham Palace made the announcement of her passing on September 8, 2022.

She passed away at the age of 96 at her home in Balmoral in the company of her family, which also included her grandson Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, and her son and heir apparent Charles, the Prince of Wales.

For instance, the EastEnders episode that was originally scheduled for Thursday, September 8 will now air on BBC Two on Friday, September 9.

The serial drama will pick up where the last episode left off, with Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) being detained by DCI Keeble for a historical crime that he didn’t commit.

Meanwhile, Frankie Lewis (Rose Ayling-Ellis) notices that she is being followed home and is then confronted by the club patron. She is entrapped until a bystander steps in and gives her a chance to escape.

Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) is thrilled when Mick (Danny Dyer) lets her say goodbye to Annie in another part of the Square, but she feels left out when he goes upstairs to help Shirley.

Additionally, Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) reassures Freddie (Bobby Brazier), who is upset, that his mother will have explanations for him, and Sharon invites Matt back to her house, but she is conflicted about her feelings for Phil.

EastEnders airs on Friday September 9 at 7:30pm on BBC Two.
